Erectile Dysfunction (ED) or as DSM -5 now classifies it; a disease/disorder in which a man can not achieve or maintain erection until the end of sexual activity over a period of six (6) months in most sexual activities in which he participated in.

It is a physiological process that is essential for normal reproductive role of man. Erectile dysfunction increases and strengthens the male extremity, which is necessary for penetration and which are caused by sexual arousal or stimulation, but may sometimes occur for any other reason induced sexual arousal.

The process consists of the following steps; the arteries in the penis relax and expand, generating more blood flow to the penis. As the arteries of the penis are tightened and widened, the veins are pulled, causing the blood contained in them to stay in the penis. The more blood comes in the penis, the greater the erection strength is.

Erectile dysfunction (the inability to achieving healthy erection) can also be caused by prostate disease that, when diagnosed on time, can be treated with certain therapies/medication that will improve your prostate health and impact on your erection. Keep in mind that for a solid and healthy erection you need to treat the prostate.

But first, let’s have a look at the quality of erection and how it is affected by erectile dysfunction.

What is erectile quality?

There are three (3) elements to determine the quality of the erection:

  1. The ability to achieve a healthy erection
  2. The strength of erection
  3. The ability to maintain an erection longer for a satisfying sexual intercourse.

So if you do not meet one of these three elements, there is a great chance that you are dealing with prostate disease, which is actually impacting on your ability to achieve a strong erection.

What Is Erectile Dysfunction (ED)?

Erectile Dysfunction

Erectile dysfunction (ED) is the inability to maintain and, in general, achieve an erection (over a period of six months) that is strong enough for a normal sexual intercourse. This condition is not considered normal at any age and should be treated. Men at each age should achieve an erection strong enough for normal sexual intercourse, of course, with more or less stimuli. A great influence on achieving healthy and solid erections has certainly prostate diseases that can be caused by various factors.
